Do they have an O? Do they ahve any D?

I'm looking at the Miss game this week, and I'm curous about this match up. Looks like Memphis put up big passing numbers against Tenn Tech last week, but can they really play?

Well, take this for what it's worth (probably not much). They played Tenn Tech (I-AA). I haven't got the Memphis roster but I hear that the O line only averages around 260. I think this games sets up good. Ole Miss squeked by Vandy, Memphis won big. If this was the opening game for both teams, I believe the line would be around 14. I believe OM will show improvement this week. I believe the key to the game is if Memphis can throw, I don't think think the O line is too good, the qb ran for his life last year, if the OM secondary improves from the Vandy game, it will be money in the bank. This is a very similiar situation as last years game, it sets up the same way and OM won by 22. If you like trends, OM is 8-1-1 ATS as RF's of less than 12. I will be on it.

One thing to remember TY is that Memphis has brought over Joe Lee Dunn to run their defense and their defense should be very good. Couple that with Ole Miss lack of a running game and I would think Memphis has a chance. The problem is I've played the Tigers several times the last couple of years and their inablity to score bothers me.

I'm from memphis and will be at the game. The tigers are really beat up at the WR position and their o-line is thin, but they haven't beat an SEC team since '96 and the city is really up for this game. I agree that the rebels should win but the last time these two meet in the liberty bowl the final was Ole Miss 3 - Memphis 0. Hope this helps, but actually probably made it even more confusing.

The fact that Joe Lee Dunn is at Memphis is no help to them in this game. Coach Cutcliff at Ole Miss has seen Dunn for years and is well aware of how to attack his defenses. I don't feel this is a strong game either way, but I sure wouldn't put down any money on Memphis. Ole Miss will be angry after their close game against Vandy.

Memphis has a quality QB that looked good the two times I saw him last year. They also have a sophomore running back DeAngelo Williams that was highly recruited and well worth the billing. Memphis gets sky high when they play SEC teams, especially Ole Miss. I think this game will be decided by a touchdown or less.

This will be a close game. The last time a Manning came into Memphis he lost 21-17.

Guys, I have to disagree about this being a close game. The is a mismatch on paper. OM is not the greatest running team but they will run on Memphis. Memphis gave up 5.52 yds/carry to Tenn Tech a div. 1AA team. Wimprime will be running for his life and will be hit alot, the OL is too small. IF OM can run the ball, and I believe they will, Memphis can't defend the run and stop Manning. The OM secondary gave up some yards to Vandy because 3 players were out due to heat problems; cramps, dehydrated, etc. I don't think Memphis can hang close all game.
